Fun at LACMA

We had the most fun day today visiting the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. We met up with Peter's friend, Lee, and his family at the park outside first.

What a beautiful day!

Clara loved checking things out from the Bjorn.

On the right side of this picture, you can see the coolest spot at the museum. It is an outdoor sculpture of hanging plastic tubes, like noodles. Peter had the greatest time running through them.

Ben took a self portrait while Peter and I were in the noodles.

 "I love it in here!"

Next, we checked out the Gallery of Korean Art.

Inside the gallery, they have watercolors. Peter was so excited to paint.

Here were are, creating our masterpieces!

Half a Year

This little girl is six months (and 4 days) old! Can you believe it?

Oh, and do you like her outfit?

As a six month old, Clara gets to start eating solid foods.

Clara's first food was oatmeal.

Look at this happy girl!

Here's her brother, Peter, sitting with his first food, a sweet potato back in February 2010.  Do you think they look alike?

Here we are at Clara's 6 month doctor's appointment checking ourselves out in the mirror. Hello!

Clara is actually 2 pounds bigger than Peter was at her age. Wow!

Happy half-birthday, Clara!

Here are her first bites of cereal...

Irrational Behavior

What a crazy morning! The Missoni for Target collection launched today. I adore Missoni! One of my first big clothing purchases as an adult was a pair of Missoni pants that I bought in New York shortly after college graduation. I have no idea where they are now... probably in a box in our garage... but I am going to find them!

Anyway... I was soooo excited for the collection at Target, and then last night I started to get really anxious about the availability. There were a ton of blogs and tweets about how it was going to be sold out in minutes and how the New York pop-up store ran out of merchandise in just a few hours earlier this month. Yikes! What was I going to do??

I woke up a little after 5 this morning and tried to get on the Target website. Apparently, I was not the only person with this idea. The website crashed due to all of the activity and has been down all morning!

I guess there was only one other option... I had to go to the store in person with the rest of the crazies.

I arrived at 7:30am for the 8:00am store opening. There were probably 50-100 people in line on two different floors waiting to get in.

By the time I got to the women's clothes, everything was gone (except some fairly unattractive green coats. Who need coats in Southern California?)! Apparently, a few real lunatics grabbed entire racks of clothes and were shoving people out of the way. Wow.

Luckily, I managed a fantastic score in tableware and kids' clothes. Woo hoo! Here is my loot...

At home...

I love these plastic tumblers. They will be perfect for outside.

I am guessing you will probably see Clara in this outfit pretty soon.

Awesome plates and a platter for outside, too.

As of this posting, the Target website is still down! I wonder if I will ever be able to buy the dress and tights I want.

Roller Coaster

Peter got the absolute coolest gift for his birthday from Uncle Sam and Aunt Sarah. It's his very own roller coaster! While Peter was napping on Saturday, we opened the box.

Reading the directions...

Putting it together...

Looks like it's ready to go!

When Peter got up from his nap, he was so excited to try it out.

He has been riding it for two days straight.

Thank you, Sam, Sarah, Vivi and Grace!

Noah's Ark & Other Stuff

Yesterday, I took Peter and Clara to Noah's Ark at the Skirball Cultural Center.

"Mom, can we please just go inside? Quit taking pictures!"

"Is this going to be any fun for me?"

Peter loved riding this camel. Clara had fun watching. I think.

Peter really wanted to lie down on the walruses, but once I put him up there, he was kind of scared. Notice how his feet are already blurry... He is getting ready to go...

And he's gone!

We had a great time visiting Noah's Ark and can't wait to go back. Maybe next time we'll bring Dad and spend some more time climbing around the ark, working on the craft projects and playing music.

Other goings on in our house... Peter has been a fantastic help with the unpacking (not really).

Here's Clara checking out her new room before the furniture arrived.

And here's the "After" shot. We still need to hang some things on the walls, but you get the idea.

Clara has the best view in the house.

The other exciting news is that we cleared out our storage space!!

Hooray! It is so nice to have everything in one place, even if it is all in boxes until 2013.

Go Big Red!

It's football season again, and Peter (and his dad) couldn't wait to break out his Blackshirts t.

"Hooray, Nebraska! Go Big Red!"

"Wait. What about Iowa?"

Return of the Exersaucer

We are slowly making our way through the mountains of stuff at our house, and prioritizing boxes to unpack. One of the first things that we retrieved from our storage space and set up is the exersaucer.

Peter loved it. Clara is not so sure yet.

"I don't get it. What am I supposed to do here?"

"So, can I put this in my mouth?"

"Okay. It's kinda fun."

The exersaucer is a dream in the kitchen, especially since we don't have a kitchen table or anything else in there yet.

That wine glass looks like it needs a refill, don't you think?

Hi, crazy.
