Sillies at the Beach

Today, I took both kids to the Santa Monica beach.

We met their friend, Eyal, and his mom.

It's a beautiful day and we had a great time, but whew -- these boys are crazy!

Thank goodness for snack time. It is the only time they stopped moving.

The best thing about the beach is that it is so exhausting that both kids are napping now, and I am about to turn on some daytime television.

A Fun Visitor

We are lucky to have Grandma Dorothy visiting from Nebraska for almost a whole week. On day #1, Peter and Clara wanted to take her to one of their favorite parks to feed the ducks and geese.

"Oh, you mean that food is for the ducks and not for me?"

"Really? A hat? Come on."

Grandma Dorothy is a great storyteller.

The kids enjoyed popsicles in the backyard. Nice outfit Peter.

"Mmmmm..."

Grandma Dorothy and I took in the view at church this morning.

The kids loved reading bedtime stories with their Grandma.

And, of course, no day is complete without a dance party.

Have you noticed that Peter and Clara rarely wear pants anymore?

Woo hoo!

We are looking to a few more fun days with Grandma Dorothy, including her birthday tomorrow!

Here's what's happening at our house...

Clara absolutely adores Myshka.

But the question is... Does Myshka adore Clara? The jury is still out.

I had a doctor's appointment the other day and saw that we finally made the wall of framed birth announcements and thank you notes.

There's my note and a picture of Peter, me and my doctor in the middle. Cool! We are celebs.

I think that when these two kids stand on their stool and brush their teeth together, it is about the cutest thing ever.

"Hey, big brother."

Cute stuff.

Clara has a very pronounced preference for her dad these days. They read stories together all afternoon on Father's Day.

Sweet.

These are two lucky kids.

Not a Photographer

This morning, Peter and Clara were dressed up for church, so I tried to get some pictures outside.

Why is it so hard to photograph these two?

Seriously.

It's totally normal (and probably really safe) to walk around with a giant bubble wand around your neck.

Now that she's one the go, she doesn't stop moving. Ever.

A Good Day

What goes into a good day? It turns out that it doesn't really take anything out of the ordinary.

Start with a little post-breakfast climbing. (I think that guy's a little big to be in there, don't you?)

Add some silly moves (or a "beat dance", as Peter would say)...

A game of peek-a-boo,

Some fireman gear,

A gigantic steering wheel,

A nice, long walk around the neighborhood,

Backwards shorts (Peter dressed himself),

And corn.

Lots and lots of corn.

And you'll find you've had a really great day!
