Bakers

I have mentioned before how the best way for me to get my kids to eat something more than a chicken nugget (or "chicken nut" as Peter says) is to involve them in the preparation. Today, they are home from school, so we decided to make Apple Banana Muffins

Clara mashed the banana and sprinkled in the cinnamon.

Peter added the honey. Everywhere. My kitchen is so sticky right now.

A proud little girl with the finished product.

Pretty good!

Two Little Monkeys

Is there anything as fun as jumping on the bed?

Sickie

My poor Goose is sick. Ugh. I can't believe the fall / winter flu season is starting already.

This little girl doesn't want to do anything but rest.

And snuggle with her buddies.

She seriously slept for about 18 hours yesterday.

Peter got a little bored with the quiet time at home. Lucky boy, he got to go out for lunch with his dad.

Today, Clara showed some signs of improvement. Maybe it was her silly brother entertaining her in the backyard.

Hey, wait a minute, you don't look very sick to me!

The Sillies

Ben takes pictures of Peter and Clara every morning when he drops them off at school.

I don't know how he gets them there on time. They are always doing something crazy.

I think these guys are really cute.

Peter's teacher sent us this picture. It's from when they had ponies come to the school one day this summer. Giddy-up!

Stuffed Animal Slumber Party

A few weeks ago, we converted Peter's crib into a toddler bed. At first, he didn't really know that he had the freedom to get out on his own. Eventually, he figured it out and now every night we have to deal with some sort of craziness.

Tonight, he decided that Clara needed some friends with her while she slept.

So, he put all of their stuffed animals in her crib.

She never even woke up.

She sure looks cozy, doesn't she?

Weekend in Nebraska

This weekend we traveled to Kearney, Nebraska to visit Ben's family. The kids loved seeing their Chicago cousins and having dinner outside with Grandma.

These kids played tons of games outside. It was dreamy. We even let Peter stay up until midnight playing tag.

Learning the rules of tag.

Bob was our chef all weekend. He made breakfast, lunch and dinner for 16 people everyday!

The kids all got Mickey Mouse waffles for breakfast.

Fun to eat breakfast with cousins!

We also got to go to a sort of crazy, kind of gross, but fun for the kids indoor pool at the Holiday Inn. As usual, Peter loved it.

Cousin Noah showed him all of the cool spots.

Clara was less sure.

"Are you sure there are supposed to be this many people in here?"

There were these giant indoor slides. Somehow, I was convinced to go down the green slide with Peter. Look closely at this picture and you'll see just how much control I had while going down the slide.

I promised Peter I wouldn't let his head get wet. Oops. Sorry, mister.

Peter and Connor played some great duets.

And Simon really had a knack for the bugle. There is definitely some sort of Miller / Apley band in the future for this generation.

After everyone left, Ben and I stuck around for an extra 1/2 day and went to the Kearney Children's Museum with Grandma Dorothy. It is such a cool spot!

Just stocking up for dinner...

The music area at the museum was super fun.

Especially the dance floor. Clara couldn't even keep up with Grandma Dorothy's moves!

On our last morning, we went for a walk around the neighborhood.

We loved spending the weekend with such an awesome group!
