And Now I Understand Why People Buy Cribs with Organic Paint

Here is my sweetheart Mister just waking up from a nap. Why is he so happy?

Take an extra close look at the tiny brown crumbs around his mouth. It looks a little like he might have just eaten an Oreo...

... or perhaps a portion of his crib.

Delicious.

Our Midwest Adventure - Part 2

While in Iowa, Peter was happy to see Nanny. He especially loved her cool ring.

She helped him eat some strawberries for dinner.

Lucy was there, too. Peter remembered Lucy from when she helped give him a bottle at Thanksgiving.

Now, Lucy has a little brother, Benji.

Benji and Peter will be great friends someday.

We also got to go to the pool on the one day when it didn't rain. We all know how much Peter likes the water. He loved every minute of it.

Nanny and Peter relaxed in the pool lounge chairs.

For the last night of our trip, we were back in Chicago. This time, we stayed with Uncle Mitch and Aunt Ellen. Grandma Dorothy was there visiting, too, which made it extra fun.

Peter loved eating breakfast with his older cousins.

Peter and Simon look like they are having a serious talk here.

Noah showed Peter all of the cool stuff in the backyard.

Noah also taught Grandma how to play Wii. Pretty fun.

We had a great trip and hope to visit again soon!

Father's Day

To celebrate Ben's first Father's Day and our return from 10 days of travel, we treated ourselves to a breakfast of bacon and mimosas while Peter was napping. It is totally normal to have champagne at 8:43am, right?

Happy Father's Day!

Last August...

Yesterday...

Later in the afternoon, we went to the first 1st birthday party of the babygroup babies. This is Lauren with her mom and dad enjoying her first cupcake. Yum!

Peter loved the party and seeing his friends from babygroup.

He also really loved the park benches.

Our Midwest Adventure Part 1

Last week, we were in Chicago, Cedar Rapids and Des Moines to visit friends and family. We had such a great time! The main event, and the reason for our trip, was Peter's cousin, Vivian's, baptism at Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago.

Apley family photo... Peter is showing off his signature dragon face.

Here's a group photo of the Apley and Richardson families. I like this one because both babies have their hands in their mouths.

Compare it to this photo taken when Vivian was one day old...

Peter loved seeing his grandparents.

And it was really fun for them to be able to be with both grandbabies at once.

A Living Room Picnic

On Friday, we left LA for Chicago. This was Peter's second time on a plane, and it was LOTS different than when we traveled with him at 3 1/2 months.

We are staying with Peter's Aunt Sarah, Uncle Sam and cousin Vivian. Here is Peter with Aunt Sarah.

And Uncle Sam...

On Saturday, friends and family came over for a picnic (which ended up being in the living room thanks to some thunderstorms).

Peter loved seeing his cousins, Simon and Noah.

And he finally got to meet Posey. Posey's mom and I have been friends since we were about the same age as Peter and Posey.

Peter drooled with excitement.

Stephanie is one of my best friends from high school. Peter tried to get her to tell him some of our secret pranks from the Deerfield days. Sorry, mister, you're definitely not old enough for that yet.

We also got to meet baby Morgan and her parents. Morgan's mom was my roommate in college.

Most of all, Peter loved playing with his cousin, Vivian. Here he is explaining some of the secrets of the exersaucer to her.

Here are Mimi and Sarah with their girls, Posey and Vivi, both December babies.

Stay tuned for some pics of Vivian's baptism yesterday...

The Social Club

Today, Peter and I went to the Tree House Social Club. There is a whole space filled with toys, musical instruments, slides and other fun stuff. Peter headed straight for the trucks. Shocking.

He dabbled in some kitchen activities, too. It won't be long before he is emptying the dishwasher.

Peter's friend, Alex, and her mom met us there.

Uh oh, Peter. Did you get my height genes?

"Mom, can we stay here all day?!"
