A First

Today was a first for us. We took Peter to church and left him in the nursery while we went to the service. We were really nervous, but the nursery was so nice and there were only two kids there. Here is Peter with Daisy who played with him the whole time.

When we came to get him after the service, Peter was perfectly happy... just relaxing in the bouncer chair. They said he didn't cry at all and loved playing with all of the new toys.

We were really relieved that he had a good time in the church nursery. Maybe next week, we'll go have brunch at the Polo Lounge while he's there. I wonder if that's allowed.

Arts & Crafts

After Peter's appointment on Monday, we stopped in Burbank at the arts & crafts superstore, Michael's.

I have been to Michael's exactly one other time in my life and that was for Ben's 30th birthday party when I made party favor refrigerator magnets of this photo:

When I got home, I was so excited to start my crafts project. I got everything situated on the patio. I had to put masking tape around the whole band so that I didn't get any paint on the inside. That was the hardest part.

After one coat of paint...

After two coats...

I added some stickers on the front and applied a coat of gloss over the whole thing.

Peter seems to like it.

I might try adding some additional details soon, but considering it took me 3 days just to paint it blue and add his name, I am not promising anything.

Peter's New Look

For the last few weeks, at the recommendation of our pediatrician, we have been taking Peter to a place called Cranial Technologies in Pasadena. Peter has a small flat spot on the back of his head. It is a little more pronounced on his right side than his left. At Cranial Technologies, they took a bunch of photos and measurements, and recommended that he wear a DOC band for 3-4 months to round out his head. He wears the band for 23 hours a day (with an hour off for bath time, etc), and hopefully after a couple of months, he will have a perfectly round noggin.

In order to fit him for the band, they had to create a 3D model of his head. So, they put a stocking over his head to create a smooth surface. So sorry, Peter. (He didn't mind.)

Next, he was photographed by these special cameras that created the 3D model.

We went back yesterday to pick up the band and make sure it fit. It does.

Peter seems pretty happy about it.

And tired.

Now, I just have to decorate the band. Any suggestions? Our pediatrician suggested a Lakers theme. Um... Probably not.

Thank you, Craigslist

Ben and I have been trolling Craigslist for weeks, possibly months, looking for a BOB Revolution jogging stroller. We have been close to getting one twice, but each time we weren't quite fast enough and the strollers were sold to other people. Today was our lucky day! We were the first to respond to the Craigslist ad for this blue & silver stroller. It's sort of gigantic and we have no place to store it, but we're still pretty happy.

We met the lady who sold it to us in a parking lot in the valley. Not sketchy at all. Peter was excited.

Peter wanted to try it right away, so we stopped near the Farmers Market.

"I love it!"

While we were getting situated, this lady walked by with her dog in a stroller. Awesome. Only in LA. Maybe our next purchase will be a stroller for Myshka, and the four of us can go for family jogs together. Keep an eye out for photos of that.

Get in my Mouth!

Peter is obsessed with getting the apple from the exersaucer in his mouth.

He tries so hard.

When do you think he'll realize it is about the size of his entire head?

Definitely an Apley

Peter has been really into pushing buttons of all kinds lately. He reaches for the remote and our cell phones constantly. Ben found a peek-a-boo game online, and now Peter can push all the buttons he wants.

He loves it!

Peek-a-boo!

Such a happy boy...

Peter Meets Food

Here's a video of what became of the sweet potato, and how Peter handled it. Myshka supervised the whole thing.

Happy Half Birthday, Peter!

Today is Peter's half birthday. To celebrate, we gave him a sweet potato.

We are hoping he'll eat it this weekend.

He looks pretty excited, don't you think? Check out those two teeth peeking out. He's ready for some food!

Peter and Daisy

Today, Peter got to see his friend, Daisy.

These guys haven't hung out since they were three months old, and now they are six months.

Both of them are sitting up now. Pretty advanced stuff...

And they both love the swings.

Peter didn't remove his hand from his mouth the whole time they were swinging. I thought it was a little rude. Daisy didn't seem to mind.

Hi, Daisy!

Playing Outside

This weekend, we cleared out a space on our front patio to make a play area for Peter. We put down some cool foam pads to make it soft.

Peter is having a great time playing outside today.

California boy.

Poor Myshka. She's a little jealous.

Peter and his Friends

Today, Peter and I went over to Lauren and Oliver's house.

Oliver was giving Peter lots of toys to play with.

Alexandra, and her mom, Claire, came to play, too.

Peter got to try out Oliver's bouncy swing.

It was super fun!

He's onto Us
