Sightseeing

One of LA's famous landmarks, Greystone Mansion, is not too far from our house, so Peter and I thought we would go check it out.

It is a long walk, practically all uphill. When we got there, it was really beautiful, but possibly the least stroller-friendly place I have ever been. See all those stairs?

I took Peter out of the stroller and we did a little bit of exploring. We saw some of the gardens, but couldn't get anywhere close to the mansion itself. Too many stairs to climb while carrying a 20 pound baby.

We took a rest in the shade and Peter sorted the mail.

We found a spot by this pond to put our blanket.

Thank goodness I brought the mail with me. Peter had a great time reviewing the Nannette Lepore sale postcard and the mortgage rates from ING.

If you look really, really closely, you might just catch a glimpse of the top teeth Peter is getting. They are not the ones in the middle, but the ones next to that. Sort of like a jack-o-lantern.

After a while, we went over to check out the pond. It was filled with turtles and koi!

One of the park rangers was there feeding the fish and turtles and he told us that the pond is basically a dumping ground for unwanted pet turtles. He said that the park has never introduced turtles to the pond... That all the turtles are there because people bring them once their kids don't want them anymore. Kind of sad, but also, not a bad life for a turtle!

Peter was mesmerized. Maybe we should get him a turtle. If he doesn't like it, I'll know just where to take it.

Peter's Friends

Today, Peter and I went over to his friend, Brady's, house. Peter and Brady are only 10 days apart, and have hung out together before. Another friend, Zack, joined us, too. Zack is 3 months old and loved watching the big kids play.

Here is sweet Zack and his mom, Jacquey.

And cute Brady with his mom, Amy.

We took a walk to the park, and Peter and Brady had a great time on the swings.

Zack napped while the big boys played.

Peter got to play in the sand for the first time and loved it.

"What's in your hand, Peter?"

Peter ate at least 3 handfuls of sand, and got it all over his clothes and in his hair. I hope it's okay if he doesn't see sand again until he's about 15.

Farmers' Market

Yesterday, we went to the Beverly Hills Farmers' Market, which is something we do almost every weekend. Now that it is strawberry season, our first stop is always Harry's Berries. Yum!

This weekend was even more fun at the Market because we got to see a few friends. Here are Alexandra and Camden, two of Peter's friends from babygroup, with their moms. This is a very serious bunch of babies.

But they're all pretty cute, don't you think?

On our way home... Bye, bye!

Fun with a Box

There is no chance of anyone forgetting Peter's name with this outfit on.

Is there anything more fun than playing inside a box? Not really, no.

It is even more fun when you can get the cat to play, too.

Time to Move the Monitor

This afternoon during Peter's nap, I heard a banging sound. At first, I thought it was construction next door, but then I realized it was coming from inside the house! I went to check out what was going on on the video monitor, and I saw this. I think it is time to find a new location for the monitor.

Brunch

Today, we went to one of our favorite spots, Shutters, for brunch. Since we were near the beach, Peter brought his sand toys and had a lot of fun repeatedly dropping them on the ground.

T was in town for a visit with his girlfriend, Laura. It was great to see him and so fun to meet her!

Mac joined us too. Here he is enjoying a delicious Bloody Mary. Yum!

Peter loves everything about Shutters, especially the spoons.

A Date with Daisy

Today, Peter and I went to the park with Daisy and her mom, Anya. Daisy was Peter's first friend, and they always have a great time together.

As usual, Peter was a little on the grabby side, but luckily it did not result in any tears unlike our park date with Alexandra.

Daisy nicely let Peter try one of her banana flavored puffs. He had no idea what to do with it so he just held it in his mouth for a long time. It looks like he's wearing a fake set of teeth.

He eventually worked it into his mouth.

Do you think he likes it?

Guess not...

Photo Shoot

A couple of weeks ago, our friend Brian came over to take some photos of Peter. It was a very professional set-up, and Peter was a great model.

Of the 500+ photos Brian took, these are my favorites...

Which one should I order 8 x 10s of to send to the Hollywood casting agents? Just kidding... sort of...

No, no, no...

Is Peter really learning how to say "no" before he starts to crawl?

A New Story Time

Today, Peter and I went to the first session of Story Time at the Beverly Hills Public Library. We had to officially register for the class, and since we are not Beverly Hills residents, the registration was one week later than for residents. There were only a couple of spots open for non-residents, so I woke up extra early on registration day and was able to secure a spot for Peter. Hooray!

The Beverly Hills Library is only a little more than a mile from our house, and there is a nice shady path to walk on the whole way there.

Can you tell how excited Peter is?

As long as he can bring something to put in his mouth, he'll go anywhere!

Here is the Beverly Hills City Hall, which is also where the police department, library and other municipal buildings are.

Walking into the library area. It is approximately 700 times nicer than the West Hollywood Library.

We're here!

I didn't really take any photos during story time because I didn't want to get in trouble. Afterwards, though, the babies stayed for about 30 minutes and played with fun toys.

Peter loved this cool ball. I sure hope no one minded that he covered it in drool.

Afterwards, we went across the street to this nice park and had lunch under a big tree.

Peter also practiced crawling, but hasn't quite figured it out yet.

It was a really fun day, and we are excited to go back again next week. Oh... and the other cool thing about the class is that there are 2 other babies who also have the same kind of DOC band that Peter has. Must be the thing to do in Beverly Hills.
