Memorial Day Picnic

We had a really fun day at the park for a Memorial Day picnic with some friends from Babygroup.

These babies have known each other since they were just a month or two old. Here is the whole group at the Babygroup Halloween party.

Peter and I tried for a good pic, but this is the best we could do...

Here is Peter's friend, Jordan, swinging with her dad.

Alexandra was loving the swings, too.

Peter and Eyal were playing with some really cool toys.

Here's a brief video of us trying to get a picture of all the babies. Needless to say... there is not a group photo.

Peter and his Truck

As I mentioned before, Peter loves to spin the wheels on just about anything. Here he is with his favorite truck, spinning away. Until he notices the camera...

Last Story Time

Today was our last Born to Read class at the Beverly Hills Library until September. Peter has had such a great time in the class.

Peter was much more interested in the little girl with the curly hair toddling around him than he was in the duck puppet.

He loved touching the bunny and lamb puppets. So soft. Maybe this will help him learn how to be gentle with Myshka...

Peter's favorite thing to do is spin the wheels on toy cars and trucks. Look at his hand in this picture -- He's spinning the wheels so fast that it's blurry!

Before and After

Here are three Before and After photos of Peter. The pre-band photos are on the left and the post-band photos are on the right.

In these first two pairs of photos, you can see how Peter's head is now rounder in the back.

You can also see that he has a *little* bit more hair now. At this rate, maybe he will have a full head of hair by the time he is three.

I think this last photo pair really shows what a difference the band made. Wow!

Peter's New Hat

Today, Peter and I went to the Grove to see a band. Every Thursday is kids' day at the Grove and they have all sorts of free activities. These guys were pretty cool. We got front row seats.

It was really hot and sunny though, and Peter's skin is a tad on the fair side. See him there baking in the sun? Even though he had sunblock on, I thought he probably needed a hat. Good thing we were at a mall, though I wish the Gap had had a better selection.

This was the best I could do...

What do you think?

Graduation Day

Today, Peter "graduated" from his DOC band. Hooray! It has been exactly 12 weeks since he first got the band.

This is the last photo of Peter wearing his band in the waiting room of Cranial Technologies.

Peter had to put a stocking over his head again. It didn't bother him, but he couldn't figure out why he wasn't able to get his finger all the way into his mouth.

Then, they took some more 3D images of his head with this cool camera.

Next, they measured his head and compared the measurements with the ones they took in February. In his first set of measurements, Peter had a 4.8 standard deviation (which was enough to qualify for insurance to cover the cost of treatment). Today, Peter's standard deviation was 1.46!! Way to go, Peter!

Afterwards, we looked at the Before and After of the 3D images. Peter's "Before" is on the top and the "After" is on the bottom. Look how much rounder the back of his head is in the bottom picture. Isn't that crazy? I'm so happy for Peter and his round head!

Happy Graduation, Peter! He is obviously really excited...

We'll have some more Before & After pics to post in the coming weeks. They took a full set of actual photographs, and once we get them back, I'll post them so that you can see the incredible difference the DOC band made.

It took a long time for me to be convinced that Peter needed to wear the band, but now that I've seen the results, I'm so happy that we decided to do it. Thank you, Cranial Technologies!

Bounce House

Today, Peter got to experience a Bounce House for the first time.

It was pretty fun, especially if you happen to have an abacus in there with you. What? Doesn't everyone?

Peter loved crawling around on the cool squishy surface.

He also loved watching the big kids jump around.

Do you notice a little something on Peter's chin? It's possible that he spit-up a little bit inside the bounce house, but we'll keep that a secret.

Peter was exhausted on the way home, but we didn't want him to fall asleep in the car. So we gave him some garbage to play with.

"Woo hoo!"

"I love my new toys!"

A Farewell Playdate

This is my oldest LA friend, Julie, and me, circa Summer 2000. I still look exactly the same, right?

Julie was the first person I met in LA and we have been friends ever since. We have been jobless together, single together, on dates together, and now we're both married with kids. Here are Julie and Clint getting married in Santa Barbara 4 years ago.

And here we are at my baby shower last summer.

Julie and her family are leaving LA and moving to Kansas City in two weeks! Very sad for me, but exciting for them. This morning, we met at The Playroom in Sherman Oaks for a farewell playdate with the kidos.

It was impossible to get a good pic of all three of them because there was so much cool stuff to see and do.

Peter and Weston had a great time trying out the different little toys to roll around on.

A ball pit? That was the highlight for sure.

We had a great time this morning and will miss Julie, Clint, Weston and Lillian so much!

Gymnastics

Now that he is moving around so much, Peter finds himself in the strangest positions. Check out these splits.

We went to the park with a friend, Ollie. Peter and Ollie look like they're practicing a gymnastics routine, don't you think?

Watch Out, Myshka

Uh oh, someone figured out how to crawl. Myshka, your life is about to change.

Atticus

Yesterday, Peter got to meet a new friend, Atticus. Atticus' mom, Lisa, and I went to high school together.

Lisa, her husband, Curzon, and Atticus were visiting LA from London. Peter felt very sophisticated and worldly meeting his first international friend.

Peter has mastered crawling. Backwards. Look how far he made it from his toys and friend.

Peter made his way over to Lisa and Atticus once he spotted Atticus' toy, Sophie the Giraffe.

"Do you mind if I borrow that?"

"Thank you so much. Let me just check how Sophie tastes."

It was so fun seeing Lisa and Curzon, and letting the babies play together. I hope they'll get to see each other again, soon!
