Spring Training

Peter is getting ready for Spring Training with the Yankees.

He didn't do so well as a Phillies fan, so he's trying out another team.

Thank you, Anita, for the cool outfit!

Pre-Easter Fun

On Sunday, we went over to Evelyn's for a Palm Sunday Easter egg hunt and party. Peter watched the older kids sorting through their candy and strategized about next year when he can participate in the hunt.

His Easter basket was filled with stuffed animals. Pretty cool, but not as good as candy.

The best part of the whole day was the partially deflated Valentine's balloon. Fun!

After the party, we went out to the backyard where we read books and sat in the sun.

Picnic

Today, Peter and I took a picnic to the park for lunch. It was pretty fun.

It was really warm and sunny, but I forgot to bring sunblock, so I pulled Peter's socks up as far as they would go to protect his legs. Looks pretty cool, right?

Is there anything better than a picnic on a sunny day? Here is Peter finishing his delicious lunch - prunes and bananas. Yum.

Best. Game. Ever.

There is obviously nothing more fun than having a toy dropped on you.

A Day Without Peter

While Nonnie visited LA, Ben and I escaped to Santa Barbara wine country for one night and left Peter with Nonnie. It was the first time we spent a night away from him.

"Bye, Peter!"

Woo hoo... We were on our way!

Getting close...

Our first stop was the Qupe tasting room in Los Olivos.

Fantastic.

We stopped at the winery where we bought the rosé that was served at our wedding.

They have a really great cat who just hangs out on the wine bar. Check out that guy in the background finishing his glass of wine. Look familiar?

When we got back to our fancy hotel, we opened one of our favorite bottles and enjoyed a cocktail in plastic cups.

We had the most amazing dinner at the Ballard Inn.

It really was one of the top three dinners ever, and so nice to be able to linger over our meal instead of rushing to finish like we do when Peter is with us.

Self-portrait at 9:45am the next morning along Foxen Canyon Road. We were killing some time before the wineries opened at 10. We were pretty much the only people tasting wine at that time of day.

Such a beautiful landscape.

After a couple of wineries, we headed back towards LA. We stopped in Santa Barbara at our favorite restaurant on Stern's Wharf for lunch.

Check out that crab! Delicious!

Finally, we got back to LA and checked on Nonnie and Peter. They had had a really great time together. For Nonnie's last night in town, we went to the bar at the Sunset Tower hotel and watched the sunset.

Peter loved sitting by the pool.

"Hmm... What should we order...?"

We had a really great trip to Santa Barbara, and a fun time with Nonnie visiting. Thanks, Nonnie!

Nonnie in LA

Yesterday, Nonnie arrived from Iowa for a visit. Peter is so glad that she's here. Today, we went to the park. Peter had a great time playing with Nonnie's cool shades.

Peter wanted to demonstrate how much he loves the swings.

Nonnie helped Peter go down the slide. Super fun.

At the park, we checked out the fountain and splashed in the water a little bit.

One picture of Peter and his mom for good measure.

A Visit from Grandma

Grandma Dorothy and Grandpa Bob came for a visit this past weekend. We had a great time! The first night they were here, we went to a fun bar in our neighborhood. Peter loved being out in West Hollywood on Friday night.

On Saturday, we went to the Getty Center. Peter was fascinated by the tram.

While Grandma & Grandpa walked around, Peter had a picnic on the lawn at the Getty.

Peas again. Might be time to try something new.

The prunes were pretty good.

It was really fun to wander around the Getty with Peter in the bjorn.

Here's Grandma, Grandpa, Ben & Peter in front of the Getty.

It was such a beautiful day, and a great view.

Those are the gardens below.

This was a cool sculpture called "Delusions of Grandeur" by René Magritte.

After the Getty, we went to Santa Monica and had lunch at BP Oysterette. Peter got to sit in a high chair at the table and he absolutely loved it.

Lunch was so fun and really delicious.

At home, Peter got to eat dinner with Grandma, which was such a nice treat. (Does it seem like all Peter does is eat? It sure does seem that way to me.)

Grandma & Grandpa Bob had to leave this morning. We had such a great weekend with them!

Story Time

At the West Hollywood Library, they have a weekly story time for the neighborhood kids. Peter and I decided to check it out this week.

In this photo, Peter has just destroyed an Elmo pop-up book by ripping out the pop-up and putting it in his mouth. I hid the evidence in the book shelves.

This is the nice librarian reading to the kids. She was the one who told me about story time when I went in to check out a baby food cookbook a couple of weeks ago. (I am so thankful that I did not waste money buying a baby food cookbook considering the instructions for every recipe are exactly the same: peel, chop, cook with water, puree.)

A couple of other moms & kids unknowingly having their picture taken.

Peter can't wait til story time next week. Maybe Nonnie will come with us.
